Patio Door No Longer Slides Freely - What Can Be Done?

Sliding Patio Doors offer tremendous natural light, and easy backyard access.  But, if the doors stop sliding smoothly, they can become a nuisance.  If your doors aren’t moving freely anymore, it’s probably time for a patio door repair.

Here are some common issues that can happen with patio doors, and how they are repaired:

Patio Doors: Common Issues and Repairs

  1. Dirty Patio Door Tracks - Dirt and Debris can result in patio doors no longer opening and closing freely.  Sometimes the fix for a patio door can be as easy as giving it a good cleaning and vacuuming out debris.

  2. Broken Patio Door Wheels - Over time, the wheels on the bottom of the patio door can break, resulting in rough operation.  Depending on the make and model of the patio door, these can be replaced, restoring operation without the need for a new door.

  3. Issues with Door Tracks - Sometimes, the track of the patio door can wear down or become deformed.  If caught before it progresses too far, this can often be remedied by placing a replacement rail on top of the old rail.
